Nilan takes responsibility – even when the product reaches end of life
Certified Elretur membership ensures proper and responsible disposal
Producer responsibility is a natural part of our environmental efforts. It demonstrates that we comply with legislation and actively contribute to the responsible handling and recycling of electrical products at the end of their service life.
What does Elretur certification mean?
As a manufacturer and importer of electrical equipment, Nilan has producer responsibility under Danish and European legislation. This means that we are committed to ensuring that our products are disposed of correctly once they are no longer in use.
Elretur manages this task as a collective scheme, ensuring that end-of-life electrical products are:
- Correctly collected and registered
- Sorted and processed at approved facilities
- Recycled to the greatest possible extent
This applies, for example, to components such as metals, plastics, circuit boards, and batteries, which might otherwise end up as environmentally harmful waste – but are instead brought back into new material cycles.
Part of a broader commitment
Elretur certification is just one element of Nilan’s overall efforts to reduce our climate footprint and contribute to a more circular approach to both production and disposal.
We are continuously working to improve the energy efficiency of our products, extend their lifespan, minimise the use of harmful materials, and promote proper handling – both among installers and end users. The Elretur certification documents that we do not only develop efficient solutions, but also act responsibly across the entire value chain.
Documentation and transparency
As a certified Elretur member, Nilan has documentation proving that we meet the producer responsibility requirements for electrical equipment. This documentation can be used in relation to environmental requirements in, for example, tenders, projects, and ESG reporting.
