Compact P2 AIR9 E-Silent

Compact P2 AIR E-SILENT is a compact and complete energy solution for ventilation, heat recovery, space heating, cooling, and domestic hot water. The solution combines the Compact P2 AIR ventilation unit with the ultra-quiet AIR9 E-SILENT air-to-water heat pump, integrating all essential home comfort functions into one energy-efficient system.

The system requires only 0.56 m² of floor space and is suitable for single-family homes and terraced houses with a ventilation requirement of up to 425 m³/h.

Compact P2 AIR provides ventilation with efficient heat recovery, domestic hot water production, and intelligent control of the entire system, while AIR9 E-SILENT delivers energy-efficient heating. During warm summer days, AIR9 E-SILENT can remain switched off while the ventilation unit continues to maintain a comfortable indoor climate with low energy consumption.

AIR9 E-SILENT uses the natural refrigerant propane (R290) and operates at a sound level of only 40 dB(A), making it one of the quietest solutions on the market. The low sound level provides greater flexibility when positioning the outdoor unit closer to property boundaries without disturbing the surroundings.

Its high energy efficiency ensures economical operation, with the heat pump capable of delivering more than five times as much heat energy as the electricity it consumes under normal conditions. At the same time, the high heat recovery efficiency contributes to low overall energy consumption.

AIR9 E-SILENT is available in white, black, anthracite grey, and aluzinc, making it easy to match the architecture of the home.

The “heart and lungs” of the home

Compact P2 AIR is an unconventional ventilation unit that, unlike traditional ventilation systems, recovers up to 95% of the energy in the extract air through a highly efficient counterflow heat exchanger. The remaining energy is utilised by the integrated heat pump for domestic hot water production.

Together with the external AIR9 air-to-water heat pump, Compact P2 AIR forms a complete solution for ventilation, heat recovery, domestic hot water, and space heating. Compact P2 AIR includes the necessary hydraulic components, including a buffer tank and control system, ensuring efficient cooperation with the heat pump for heating via underfloor heating or low-temperature radiators.

Passive heat recovery

Compact P2 AIR recovers heat from the extract air through a highly efficient counterflow heat exchanger with a temperature efficiency of up to 95%. The fresh outdoor air is heated by the warm extract air, ensuring a healthy indoor climate with minimal heat loss and lower energy consumption.

At low outdoor temperatures, frost may form in the heat exchanger due to the high heat recovery efficiency. The unit is therefore equipped with an intelligent defrost function that automatically ensures stable operation.

Compact P2 AIR is also available as a Polar model with a built-in frost protection preheater. This reduces the risk of frost formation and ensures high heat recovery even on cold winter days.

Passive and active heat recovery

When the integrated heat pump is not producing domestic hot water, it can instead be used to post-heat the supply air and thereby contribute to space heating.

This function is activated automatically if the desired indoor or supply air temperature has not been reached. It provides additional comfort and a more stable indoor temperature.

When the heat pump heats the supply air, part of the energy is simultaneously transferred to the hot water tank. As a result, the domestic hot water temperature may temporarily exceed the set value.

Domestic hot water

The energy still present in the extract air after heat recovery is utilised by the integrated heat pump for domestic hot water production.

As standard, Compact P2 AIR is equipped with a software-based anti-scalding protection limited to 60 °C. For higher domestic hot water demand, a physical anti-scalding valve is recommended, allowing the temperature in the hot water tank to be increased further.

Compact P2 AIR can be supplied with an integrated solar coil in the hot water tank. This makes it possible to supplement heating with external energy sources such as solar thermal energy, district heating, or the AIR air-to-water heat pump.

Anti-legionella function
Compact P2 AIR features an integrated anti-legionella function that can be activated manually or automatically to help prevent legionella bacteria growth and ensure hygienic operation.

100% bypass function

On warm days, Compact P2 AIR can automatically help reduce the indoor temperature.

When the outdoor temperature exceeds 14 °C, summer mode is activated, and the unit will attempt to cool the home if the indoor temperature exceeds the desired level.

If the outdoor air is cooler than the indoor air, the bypass function opens automatically and directs the air around the heat exchanger. This supplies cooler fresh air to the home without heating it.

If the outdoor air is warmer than the indoor air, the air passes through the heat exchanger, where the cooler extract air is used to cool the supply air. This is known as cooling recovery and contributes to a more comfortable indoor climate.

When the ventilation section is operating in cooling mode, the AIR air-to-water heat pump is automatically stopped to prevent the systems from counteracting each other. However, opposite operation can be enabled, allowing, for example, underfloor heating in the bathroom to continue providing heat.

Active cooling

The integrated heat pump in the ventilation unit is reversible and can therefore both heat and cool the supply air.

When the bypass function is no longer sufficient to maintain the desired indoor temperature, the unit can activate active cooling via the heat pump.

Active cooling must be enabled manually in the control system, as the function consumes electricity. However, the energy is not wasted, as the heat removed during cooling is transferred to the hot water tank and used for domestic hot water production.

For high cooling demand, a physical anti-scalding valve is recommended so the temperature in the hot water tank can be increased further.

Air to water heat pump

The AIR air-to-water heat pump delivers energy-efficient heating to the home via underfloor heating or low-temperature radiators.

The heat pump works together with the home heating controls and automatically adjusts heat production according to demand. When the room thermostats detect a heating requirement, the AIR heat pump ensures efficient and comfortable heating.

When the ventilation section is operating in cooling mode, the AIR air-to-water heat pump is automatically stopped to avoid conflicting operation. However, simultaneous operation can be enabled so that, for example, bathroom underfloor heating can remain active during cooling operation.

Domestic hot water
The AIR air-to-water heat pump does not produce domestic hot water directly, but it can assist Compact P2 AIR during periods of high hot water demand.

If Compact P2 AIR is equipped with a solar coil, the AIR heat pump can contribute to heating the domestic hot water tank, thereby increasing the total capacity.

An additional 250-litre hot water tank (SHW) can also be added, allowing the AIR heat pump to preheat the domestic hot water before it is reheated in Compact P2 AIR. This provides extra comfort in homes with high domestic hot water demand.
