Silken Park

In a prime location in the south of Dublin, Silken Park, City West, is highly desirable for several reasons

Nilan Compact P

There is an abundance of amenities in the vicinity and, conveniently, it is linked to all the major transport routes.

With the hills of Dublin as backdrop, booming technological industry nearby, good schools, green recreational areas, shopping facilities, village pubs and restaurants, the area is very popular.

The 59 dwellings have either 2,3 or 4 bedrooms. They are therefore ideal for all age groups.

In the latest development phase in Silken Park the aim has been to achieve full Passive House certification and to make the dwellings both comfortable and energy efficient. This reputable, internationally recognised certification is a guarantee that the house is airtight and highly efficient. It is also an assurance that heating and ventilation contribute towards a healthy indoor climate.

The change that the house owner is most like likely to notice is the considerably lower energy consumption.

Nilan’s Compact P unit was chosen, for instance because the energy from the extract air can be utilised to produce domestic hot water.

As Compact P is the only heat source for the dwelling, an after-heating element was installed. Compact P can heat the supply air up to 34 °C. However, if the heat pump in the Compact P unit is unable to heat the supply air to a high enough temperature, the after-heating element will help heat the supply air. The same happens if the heat pump is to produce domestic hot water.
